文件

If you should need me over the next two weeks during night or weekend hours, you'll most likely find me in the front room sorting through years worth of filing gone wrong.  Yesterday I had the house to myself was home alone with the cats working.  And boy were they helpful.

Gush Worthy

I always forget the before picture of a project.  SIGH.  So let me use a little imagery with you.  Imagine GREEN indoor/outdoor carpeting...from the 1970s...in a laundry room.  Yes, we lived with that for nearly 3 years in this house.  With cats using this room as their primary space.  Ew-ww.  We* finally tackled 95% of the project this weekend!

 The laborer at work.

Next up, the last bit of floor when our NEW WATER HEATER gets installed in 2 weeks!  THIS is the kind of shopping that delights me!

*Let's be honest: Doug did all the hard, physical work.  But I did all the planning and supervising! :)

You've Come a Long Way, Baby

Somebody's feelings are hurt that I haven't wished her a happy birthday this month...

You may have to click on this picture to fully appreciate how tiny Phillip was in 2009.

She's come a long way in two years!

I think she truly believes she is my baby.

If we ever have another child, let's just say it's not Elliott's reaction I'm worried about...

Ditch!

Nope, that's not my attempt at a substitute curse word.

It's Elliott's new pet!

Phillip loves wants to eat him.
She has spent hours protecting (her investment in) him.

He is not amused.

How I Spent My Christmas Vacation

Every time I woke up from a nap, I found myself surrounded by cats.

Is this a glimpse into my destiny?

Frienemies

Phillip is evil, and Iris is annoying.

(My apologies for the dark lighting.)

Her Equivalent of Giving the Finger

Priss was ok with Iris visiting every afternoon with Grandmommy. But she draws the line at Miller, who she just met for the first time last week. Their meeting did not go well, though it was all her and no fault of Miller's. Following that encounter, she expressed her dislike via feces on the placemat that my mom keeps on the floor to put the dog bowls on. She repeated her act on my bare floor last night.

Gives a whole new meaning to "WHAT THE POOP?!?"

A Glimpse Into My Weekend

This weekend we babysat Iris, my mom's 4-pound Yorkie. This tiny girl is HIGH NEEDS. She requires lots of attention, and we are really glad she is going home today. Here is an example of Priss taunting her by sitting just out of reach and pretending she just happened to want to sit on that stool:

And here is Phillip tormenting her in her own special ways:

And yes, the dog is in a playpen.

Phillip's Perspective on...Art

To create as I do, you must take the following steps (no pun intended):

Knock over two glasses of water on the breakfast table while the humans are away.

It is crucial that the water flow over Elliott's latest color-saturated art project.

Then, walk through the now watercolor material unto Mami's recipe.

Complete!

Phillip's Perspective on...Summer School

Summer school is exhausting. That is all you need to know.

Seen Around the House

The above are all things I've found around the house at the hands of Elliott.
His humor, or at least his imagination, is fantastic.

And then there is this little devil; I never know where I'll find her.

Phillip's Perspective on...Respect

Always respect your elders.

After all, she is not only older, she outweighs me by like 10 pounds.

Phillip's Perspective on...Exercise

The key to exercise success is to visualize the results you want.
Actually using the equipment is not needed.

Phillip's Perspective on...Decorating

When decorating your mantel, you should always use long, clean lines.

Oops, Mami caught me.

Then again, If she didn't want me to inspect the new palm leaf,
she shouldn't have placed it here.

The Night Watchman

A few weeks ago she suddenly discovered that the top of our bed makes the best perch. It doesn't matter to her that it hurts when she uses one of us as a springboard. And for a cat that only weighs 5.5 lbs, it's amazing how much it hurts when she jumps down on one of us. It does rank higher than her playing in a bag during the night, though.

Rest in Peace, Poco

Sad, sad, sad, sad, so very sad. As Elliott and I were pulling in the driveway after lunch, I ran over our outside cat, Poco. We've had Poco for 8 years. And she has always run toward my car when I get home. But today I stopped halfway up the driveway, I think to turn and listen to something Elliott was saying, and when I started forward again I felt that horrible bump. I saw her run off, so I was hoping maybe I had just run over her leg. I left Elliott strapped in his carseat, ran and got the kennel, and as I was trying to load her into it she curled herself into an unnatural shape. She died en route to the vet. Tears.

My sweet daddy buried her in the back lot of the Co-op, and Elliott assisted. I did what I do best: cried and drowned my pain in sweets.

This is the second November in this house that we've lost a cat. Next November I'm sending Priss and Phillip on vacation.

Corn Pops Anonymous

"Hi, my name is Phillip, and I am addicted to Corn Pops."

Because acceptance is the first step.
